
For more than three decades, lifelong artist Jennifer Young, has been transforming imagination into tangible works of art. As the founding artist behind MoonmajickCreations, this NorCal Native, located in Marysville, Jennifer has built a career around creating unique characters, creatures, props, costumes, and visual effects that help bring stories to life.

From individual commissions, book illustrations and themed events to stage productions and independent films, her award winning work blends traditional artistry with the technical demands of modern production.
Jennifer’s creative journey began with a passion for visual storytelling and design. Her background includes studies in film, art, and animation at Yuba College, where she focused on conceptual design, digital design, script analysis, storyboarding, sculpting, fabrication, production design, prosthetics, and animatronics.


She has also trained through Stan Winston School of Character Arts and studied the techniques of legendary effects artist Dick Smith, building a foundation in the craft of character creation and practical effects.
Her work spans the full spectrum of practical artistry — from beauty makeup to elaborate creature effects. Jennifer’s expertise includes special effects makeup, props, costume design, character creation, conceptual artwork, and on-set production support.
Through MoonmajickCreations, she has provided custom creations and production services for clients locally and worldwide.


From Stage to Screen
Jennifer’s transition into film expanded her creative toolkit, allowing her to design and execute practical effects for independent productions, shorts, features, music videos, and stage productions.
Jennifer’s IMDb credits reflect a diverse career that includes roles in special effects, makeup, art direction, props, costumes, and production design.

Her film work includes projects such as Capps Crossing, where she contributed special effects makeup, as well as productions including What You Can’t Have, Resolution, Crane, Tailypo, and other independent projects. Her credits also include creature work, props, and effects for productions such as Gramp’d! and The Christmas Tapes.
Capps Crossing: Wrong Side of Dead
One of Jennifer’s standout recent projects is Capps Crossing: Wrong Side of Dead, where she served in key effects roles including special effects makeup, effects supervision, props, applications, and rigs.
The project continues the world established in the original Capps Crossing film and showcases the kind of practical effects craftsmanship that has become a signature of Jennifer’s work.

The film has been picked up by Lionsgate and will be available on demand and digital platforms beginning July 28th.
A Career Built on Collaboration
Beyond film, Jennifer has contributed her talents to theater productions including costume design, special effects, puppetry, props, and animatronics.
Her credits include productions such as Peter Pan, Shrek the Musical, Angels in America, and Titus Andronicus. She has also worked on music videos, including special effects projects featured in productions connected to artists such as AFI, Lower Dens, and Chloe Moriondo.
Jennifer’s approach has always centered around collaboration — helping filmmakers, artists, performers, and creators turn concepts into physical reality regardless of production size or budget.

Continuing the Creature Journey
Jennifer is currently working on another feature film in collaboration with artist Alan Carnes called Mirror of Humanity, featuring Sasquatch and being produced in the Redding/Shasta area. The project continues her ongoing exploration of creature design and practical effects storytelling.
